Welcome to Jone (the “Platform”). The Platform is provided and controlled by Jone Inc. (“Jone”, “we”, or “us”). We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use our website, mobile applications, and related services. This policy applies to users age 13 and over.

1. Data controller

Jone Inc. is the data controller for personal information processed through the Platform. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at privacy@thejoneapp.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect information when you create an account, use safety and social-protection features, upload content, subscribe to paid plans, or contact us. This may include:

• Account information: name, email, phone number, username, password, profile photo, language, and communication preferences
• User content: photos, videos, messages, safety alerts, incident reports, broadcasts, and other content you upload or share on the Platform
• Payment information: subscription and billing details processed by our payment partners (we do not store full payment card numbers)
• Location data: GPS coordinates, approximate location from IP or network data, and location history when you use tracking or safety features (with your permission where required)
• Device and usage data: IP address, device identifiers, operating system, app version, log data, and how you interact with the Platform
• Contacts: if you choose to find other users via your phone or social contacts, we process contact names and numbers or public profile information you authorize
• Health and wellness data: if you enroll in telehealth or related features, we may collect information required for enrollment (such as name, date of birth, contact details, and gender)

We may also receive information from sign-in providers you choose to use and from other users who contact support about your account.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• Provide, operate, and secure the Platform and its safety features
• Process subscriptions and payments
• Send SMS, email, and push notifications (e.g. alerts, OTPs, and service messages)
• Enable live video, media uploads, and location-based services
• Provide telehealth or wellness features you opt into
• Monitor errors, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve our services
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract: to provide the Platform and features you request
• Consent: where required (e.g. precise location and optional features)
• Legitimate interests: to secure the Platform, prevent abuse, and improve services, balanced against your rights
• Legal obligation: where we must comply with applicable law

5. Where we store your data

We store and process personal data primarily in the European Union (Ireland). Our primary systems and backups are maintained within the EU.

6. Service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising on the Platform. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

To provide the Platform, we use service providers that process data on our behalf and only as needed to deliver the features you use (such as hosting, payments, safety alerts, and maps). They are not permitted to use your data for their own marketing or advertising.

We may share personal information with providers in these categories:

• Hosting and storage — cloud infrastructure and databases (primarily EU)
• Payments — subscription and in-app purchase processing
• Communications — SMS, email, and push notifications
• Maps and location — geocoding and map display
• Media and video — live streaming, recording, and file processing
• Health and wellness — telehealth features you opt into
• Authentication and platforms — sign-in and mobile app store services
• Analytics and reliability — error monitoring and service improvement

These providers process data only on our instructions and for the purposes in this policy. You may request a list of our key subprocessors by emailing privacy@thejoneapp.com.

Services you connect directly (e.g. social sign-in) are governed by their own privacy policies.

7. International data transfers

Some of our service providers are located in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). When we transfer personal data outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and data processing agreements with our vendors.

8. Sensitive data

The Platform processes data that may be sensitive in nature, including precise location, safety alerts, live video and audio, emergency-related information, and (if you enroll) health-related data through telehealth or wellness features. We process this data only as needed to provide the features you use and with appropriate protections. Please use caution when sharing personal information with other users.

9. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type (e.g. account data, safety recordings, logs). You may request deletion as described in Your Rights below.

10. Cookies

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform and remember preferences. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some functionality.

11. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise these rights, or to request our subprocessor list, email privacy@thejoneapp.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. We do not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA (see Section 13).

12. Your choices

You can update account details in the app, disable GPS in device settings, and manage push notification permissions in your device or app settings. You can refuse or delete cookies via browser settings as described above.

13. California residents

Shine the Light: California residents may request information about personal information shared with third parties for their direct marketing purposes by emailing privacy@thejoneapp.com.

Removal for users under 18: California residents under 18 may request removal of content they posted by emailing privacy@thejoneapp.com with the subject line “California Removal Request” and sufficient detail to locate the content.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Service providers maintain their own security practices.

15. Children

The Platform is not directed at children under 13. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it and terminate the account. Contact privacy@thejoneapp.com if you believe this has occurred.

16. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on the Platform and update the “Last updated” and “Last reviewed” dates as appropriate. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
